Something clever goes here.

the car situation

My first car, was a hand-me-down from my family business. A minivan that had been treated pretty rough. I think it was the same age as my younger sibling, who had driven it for a few years before it was passed along to me. Not the usual direction of hand-me-downs, but with my issues in my youth, that’s how it went.

My second car, was my 2016 Prius C, that my family bought for me to get into the film industry. Before I really got deep into the industry, I ended up bailing, using my health and my grandmother’s health as an excuse. Had I kept with it, I probably could have gotten into the union, and I’d be in a fairly different place in my life now. Though there’s also a solid possibility that I’d have been junior enough that the downturn in the industry would have left me unable to find work.

This car will be a 2026 Corolla Hybrid LE, getting similar gas mileage to my old Prius. In theory, it should be decent at taking the girls to school, doing delivery jobs, road trips, etc. It’s not a hatchback, so I lose that, something enjoyed with the Prius, but since we have the Tahoe, that shouldn’t be a big deal.

It’s silver, since that’s the colour they had coming in. It’s the lowest trim level, which is good, since really, I don’t need much. Value-wise, being the last or second to last year of a generation, it’ll hold it’s resale value better than the next year, since Toyota generation changes bring new features, but also quirks and often maintenance headaches.

Overall, it’s probably the right choice rationally, and I’m sure I’ll love it once I drive it. Though it’s not Blue Friend, and it won’t be. But maybe it’ll be become something similar, in time.
